This handbook is aimed at all students and others who wish to learn the techniques of artifact illustration, regardless of their level of ability or previous experience. It is written and illustrated by three experienced practitioners who, since 1984, have conducted an annual course, "Drawing Archaeological finds" at the Institute of Archaeology, London. The text includes comprehensive advice on many aspects of archaeological artifact illustration, from the equipment and material required by the archaeological illustrator to the preparation of finished artwork of the printer. The bulk of this much-illustrated volume covers the varying techniques required to overcome the difficulties often experienced in attempting to accurately translate three dimensional objects into two dimensional illustrations.
